Next Leg of Cinta Costera Progressing

A new phase of the Cinta Costera coastal route in Panama City is 60% complete and should be finished in the first quarter of 2023, the Ministry of Public Works reported this week.

The Cinta Costera III – Calzada de Amador Interconnection project is about 1,561 kilometers and will include four lanes and connect to a roundabout on the Amador Causeway. The project also includes designing and constructing the marine vehicular and pedestrian viaduct and a four-lane bicycle lane.

As everyone in Panama City knows, Cinta Costera has really transformed the city. Not only does it help with traffic and provide a route to Casco Viejo, but it has also become the favorite spot for runners, walkers, and cyclists, creating a beautiful route along the waterfront.

The new section will make Amador Causeway more accessible, including the new cruise port. Each leg links the different neighborhoods, making Panama City more bicycle and walking-friendly while shortening the drive to all the great spots along the coast.

According to coverage in Telemetro, five beams out of a total of 70 have been placed in the new segment. Paving on the project is expected to begin in the summer of 2023.
