Marriott Opens Another Panama City Hotel

Marriott Hotels, one of the most prestigious hotel brands in the world, is once again showing its commitment to Panama City. The international chain has announced the opening of another hotel in the capital, the Marriott Panama Hotel, a 331-room facility connected to the Albrook Mall, the largest shopping mall in Central America.

The Marriott is the latest addition to what one industry publication referred to as “a sizzling hotel market in Panama City.” Several big chains have opened new hotels recently, including Hyatt’s Hotel La Compañía and Sofitel’s “highly-anticipated” new Legend Casco Viejo Panama, both in Casco Viejo.

Marriott took over the former Wyndham property next to the Allbrook mall and renovated it to its standards. The restaurant, bar, pool area, and lobby were redone, including the addition of an M Club, an “exclusive spot to rest, recharge and refocus, every day at any time.” Additional amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, self-service laundry, outdoor pool, and “special lodging for four-legged guests.”

Room amenities include technology-enabled work surfaces, open closets, relaxing bathrooms, and LED televisions. “In addition, through the first long-standing partnership between Marriott Hotels and TED, guests will have access to specially curated TED content to enjoy during their stay,” the company said in a press release.

Marriott’s announcement is also a show of support for Panama’s growing convention and business traveler business

“We are thrilled to bring back the Marriott Hotels experience to Panama City, with a strategic location and ample convention spaces,” said Glenn Simon, general manager of the hotel.

“With the recovery of the travel industry and the return of in-person events, we are ready to host memorable meetings, conventions, and events, in the lives of our guests and transcendental for the business sector.”

Marriott Bovoy already has a wide variety of hotels under different brands in Panama City, which it describes in marketing materials as “Central America’s cosmopolitan mecca.” The list includes the iconic JW Marriott in Punta Pacifica, the Le Meridien on Calle Uruguay, and the W Panama on Calle 50.
