Living the Island Life in Panama City

By Brian Kelly

After an incredible international Mother’s Day with my wife, Dorina, and our son Declan, I decided to write a series of articles trying to capture what it is like to live on the Amador Causeway. Many people new to Panama City don’t know very much about the Causeway, which not long ago was little more than a road connecting three islands. But after living here for more than a year, I can’t think of any other place I would rather live in Panama.

For those readers that do not know me, my name is Brian Kelly and I am the Project Manager for PPR on the Naos Harbour Island development.  That means I am responsible for everything related to sales, rentals and property management at Naos. I’d lived in Panama for 8 years and my family (including Dorina, Declan, and Jazz, our Jack Russell Terrier) and I made the move and investment into Naos last year, as things really began picking up on Amador.

It’s amazing to see all the activity on Amador, from the expansion of the trails and parks to the Frank Gehry-designed biomuseum, focused on the beauty of Panama’s ecology.

But Naos’s success goes behind the headlines. I have witnessed one other major catalyst for this movement–people are looking for a better lifestyle for themselves and their families. Whether they are here full time or part time, they are looking for a healthy, safe place of natural beauty.  They are looking for fresh air, relaxation, and an escape from downtown city life—a place where they can enjoy clean air and beautiful water and live their lives outdoors.

My series of articles will touch upon that lifestyle and all the things Amador has to offer. I’ll also share my experiences with Amador’s attractions, the future of the Causeway and details of the changes in the property market. I hope you enjoy the glimpse into our Amador life and find the series interesting and informative.

Stay Tuned…

(Note: This is the first in a five-part series on Brian’s life on Amador).
